Granada. The oldest city in Central America founded in 1524 keeps like treasure its old colonial architecture. Located 27 miles (45 km) from Managua on the north shores of Lake Nicaragua; the biggest lake in Central America where you can find fresh water sharks. The main highway Managua-Granada is a scenic route, as are the majority of Nicaraguan roads. This majestic city is a perfect gateway to enjoy all the bounties that Nicaragua offers, like nature, canopy, adventure, history, culture, kayaking, volcano climbing, shopping and much more. Our recommendation is to spend at least one night so you can enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful city.
Matagalpa, Cloud forest located 87 miles (145 km) from Managua, near the city of Matagalpa (in Nahuatl: confusing town), at more than 4, 000 feet (1, 455 mts) above sea level. Originally a coffee farm called Hammonia by its German settlers, the farm evolved into a protected forest. Many birds live in these woods, including the Quetzal and the more modest Trogons Elegance. A beautiful artificial lagoon gives that special peaceful touch. Trails within the forest allow visitors to observe birds, orchids and other species that live in the forest.
Solentiname. This is a beautiful archipelago of islands located in the southern end of Lake Nicaragua and it is also a natural reserve. These islands are the perfect refuge for monkeys and birds, since they seem to be isolated and safe. These islands are famous for the native paintings that are there. They are also famous for making woodcarvings that are light and colourful making them easy to carry around should you purchase any.

Playa Gigante is a sweet, sleepy little fishing village with a population of about 200 locals. The bay here is calm enough to harbour boats anchored out, and for the pangas to be pulled up on the beach. A great spot if you would like a boat of your own. From here you have quick access to all the surf spots from San Juan del Sur to Vera Cruz (approx. 45 min. in each direction). Gigante is the perfect place to sit and have your sundowners as the sun sets into the ocean, while enjoying your local fare at the ocean front restaurants with fresh seafood every night.
